Our Little Valentine

Today, rather yesterday, marks the beginning of a new life….Braden’s.
While we work at adjusting to the new changes of parenthood, I thought I might fill some of you in on some of the details. Yesterday, Braden Dean Christensen, was born at 2:53pm. He weighed 8 lbs 1 oz and was 20 inches long. Sarah woke up early in the morning (3:00am) with pretty constant contractions and around 4:00am the contractions were coming every 3-5 minutes.
We ran hurried to the hospital (cause every guy looks forward to the day that he can drive maniacally fast with an actual excuse) and they admitted us straight away. Sarah had an appointment at 7:00 am yesterday morning to be induced and we arrived at 6:00 am with her already in the middle of a natural labor. Sarah entered the hospital dilated at about a 3, and after all the regulatory blood work and testing received her heavenly epidural. By 11:30 Sarah had mysteriously dilated to a 9.5 and was pushing by 12:15. One hour and 45 minutes later we eagerly met our beautiful baby boy.
I apologize for not having posted this last night. To be honest I wrote most of it last night but just got too tired to continue. I even took a million pictures to post, but I forgot darn reader for my camera so maybe later today…
We would especially like to thank those friends and family who have provided us much love and support in this crazy time.
Tune in next time….

As you can tell, the site is a work in progress. I did update the links at the top and we have a links page that has a bunch of our friends now. I probably missed some people, and if I did, send us your link.
More coming soon…..keep looking for them.
Update: I realize that I haven’t created a link for the rss feed and other stuff for our blog, but the feed does exist. For all those with RSS readers, you can access the feed by going to http://www.deanandsarah.com/feed.
A Quick Weekend Get-Away

This weekend Dean and I took an awesome little road trip along the Washington Coast, which was so much fun! We went to Aberdeen and Ocean Shores, and through a ton of weird little towns I can’t remember the name of. I did, however, see a sign to Forks, which you Twilight lovers will be pleased to know, actually does exist! But we didn’t want to chance going because it was 30 miles up a really bumpy road, we had little gas, and no cell service- and I am due to have this baby any day! But maybe another time.
Here are some things we saw along the way!
These people were hunting on the shore for razor clams. There were hundreds of people!
The forestry on that side of the state is beautiful.
This guy was on the side of the road so we stopped to check him out. He just walked around strutting his stuff
Me on the beach!
Dean near the coast. So handsome!
There are some houses along the coast at Ocean Shores, WA. It was really beautiful there.
Good News!

Yesterday my doctor told me that he would be really surprised if baby came in the next week, so we were kind of disappointed. So I told him my Mum was coming to visit from England on monday, and that I wanted her to spend some time with him before she left, and he told me he would induce me! He said: “We don’t usually do this, because it creates a higher risk for C-section, but I would be willing to do it for you because of your ’special circumstance!”
This is great news! I have an appointment to be induced on Thursday of next week, but if a spot opens up before then- I will go in even earlier! It’s kind of scary and exciting, and overwhelming all at the same time, to think I will have my baby by this time next week!
At Long Last…

WE FINALLY HAVE A BLOG!
I know some of you, who have been telling us to get one for months now, will be so excited! Dean has custom designed it, and I think it’s looking awesome. I am really excited to be able to post news about life in Washington, and photos of the new baby- because writing and photography are two of my favorite things right now! It will also be great to be able to stay up to date with all our friends and family better. I know I am going to kick myself for not doing this sooner!
Anyway, for our first entry we thought we’d bring you up to date with what’s going on with us. Dean is working full time as a web-designer and developer, whilst I am finishing up working as an office assistant for my father in law. We are both awaiting the arrival of our baby boy any day now. He is due on the 12th of this month, so it’s coming up really fast! And thankfully the previa was misdiagnosed, so I can have him naturally now. (At least I ‘think’ I am grateful for that!) Anyway, we promise to keep you all updated with him, and will post pictures as soon as he arrives!
Welcome to our Blog!
